About the 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Health Center

  • The 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Health Center is a school-based health center, which is different and separate from the 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Nurses Office.  The Health Center is made possible by a partnership between NorthShore University HealthSystem, Evanston Township High School, and the Evanston Department of Health and Human Services, with additional funding from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Health Center staff are employees of NorthShore University HealthSystem.

    Mission Statement

    The 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Health Center welcomes and provides care for ALL 911ÖÆÆ·³§ students, empowering them to take agency of their own health care practices and optimize their lifelong physical and mental health.

    Services Offered

    The 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Health Center is a school-based health center that provides care for students Monday-Friday during the school year and Monday-Thursday during the summer. Health Center staff (pediatricians, nurse practitioners, and social workersprovide:

    • acupuncture
    • art therapy
    • diagnosis and management of chronic illness
    • diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and injury
    • gynecologic care
    • immunizations/vaccinations
    • lab testing
    • mental health services
      • counseling
      • Psychiatry (Evaluation and Medical Management)
    • preventive care such as physical exams
    • psychological support
    • reproductive services
    • STI Testing and Treatment
    • wellness/health education

    Bridges Program

    The Bridges Program for NorthShore University HealthSystem (NSUHS) offers at-school outpatient counseling and psychiatric services to all 911ÖÆÆ·³§ students.  Individual psychotherapy is offered in-person during school hours.  Telehealth appointments are also available.  In-person diagnostic and medication management services are provided by psychiatric fellows from NSUHS.  All students whose health insurance is accepted by NSUHS can receive services from Bridges.  Sliding scale services are offered to students who are uninsured or have insurance plans not accepted by NSUHS.

    Fees

    For students with private health insurance, the Health Center charges a small fee for physicals, flu vaccinations, and lab testing. All other *services are free. For students who have Medicaid/All Kids, there are no out of pocket expenses. 

    *Recommended/scheduled immunizations are only available to students who qualify for the federal (includes those with Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services Health Plan, uninsured, and American Indian or Alaskan Native). No student will be turned away because of inability to pay.

    Parent Involvement & Student Confidentiality

    Parents or legal guardians sign a consent form giving permission for their student to access services at the 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Health Center (consent form in Spanish). Students 18 years old and older can consent to all medical services on their own. In accordance with Illinois state laws, there are some instances when minor students may be seen without parent/guardian consent (see Consent by Minors Medical Procedures Act, 410 ILCS 210 Section 4).
