  • Placement Test for All Students

    Evanston Township High School uses the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test as one measure to determine course placement in math, English, history, and reading for a student new to the district. Additional may apply.

    Placement Testing for 8th Grade Students

    All students entering 9th grade at Evanston Township High School must take a MAP placement test. Students will be placed in high school classes using placement test results, past course enrollment, grades/measures of academic progress, and recommendations from middle school teachers as applicable.

    For students currently enrolled at a District 65 school, placement testing will take place at their District 65 school. For students enrolled at a non-District 65 school, placement testing will be offered at District 202. Please see the Placement Testing FAQ web page for more information. 

    All incoming freshmen are expected to complete the MAP placement exam to assess a student’s readiness in English, history, reading, and mathematics and, if applicable, a , prior to beginning at Evanston Township High School. Placement exam results, teacher recommendations, and successful completion of junior high school courses determine students’ placement in freshman-level courses at 911ÖÆÆ·³§.
