The school counselors at Evanston Township High School are advocates who assist students in identifying and achieving academic, career, personal, social and emotional goals. Counselors promote and support the educational process by helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests and talents while planning for life after high school. Counselors interact not only with students, but also with parents, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies and organizations in order to provide the best educational environment and opportunities for all students.
The primary role of the school counselor is to:
- Advocate for students
- Monitor and support academic progress
- Support student’s social/emotional development
- Provide standardized test introduction and score interpretation
- Assist with college and career (post-high) planning
Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP)
Comprehensive school counseling programs are considered an integral part of the total educational experience at Evanston Township High School. The counseling program at 911ÖÆÆ·³§ was a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) in 2013 and continues to follow the model. As a school that has aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model for years, 911ÖÆÆ·³§ is committed to delivering an effective, data-driven counseling program and creating an exemplary educational environment for its students. The RAMP designation recognizes the culmination of the implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program.
