Open House FAQs

  • Will 911ÖÆÆ·³§ parents, guardians, and family members be able to visit classrooms during Open House?

    Yes. 911ÖÆÆ·³§ teachers will give a brief introduction of themselves and provide an overview of course curriculum in the classrooms listed on the student’s schedule. Grade-level teams (counselors, deans, social workers, psychologists, 504 coordinators and academic advisors) will also be available during the event to provide information about student wellbeing resources.

    How do I access my student’s schedule?

    To view your student’s schedule, use the (search for the eSchoolPLUS Family icon) or log in to ) with your guardian user name and password, choose Home and then Week View. For step-by-step instructions, please visit the Open House Schedule page.

    911ÖÆÆ·³§ staff will also be available to assist families during the evening. To avoid lines or delays, we recommend that you download, print, or take a screenshot of your student’s schedule prior to the event.

    Where do I go when my student has an unscheduled block?

    Grade-level deans, counselors, social workers, psychologists, 504 coordinators and academic advisors will be in The Hub (W220) during your student's unscheduled block, during a non-FASH study hall block, or if a teacher is absent. 

    Where do I go during my student's lunch block?

    Lunch blocks do not meet during Open House. Please continue to your child's next scheduled block class.

    What if my student’s teacher is absent?

    Your student’s teacher may leave a note with an alternate location if they will be absent for Open House. Check your email for any notices from teachers regarding absences or suggested alternate locations. The Hub (W220) is open during the evening. The Welcome Center (E112) is also open throughout the evening for light refreshments.

    What if my student has an early bird class?

    The Open House bell schedule does not include time for an early bird class. Early bird classroom teachers will contact families to share course information. 

    Is parking available during Open House?

    Yes. Parents/guardians may park in the student parking lots (lot 1A, 2B, 3A, and 3B). Additional parking may be available in the rear lots off of Wildkit Drive. In addition to accessible parking, visitor spaces in parking lots 1 and 2 will be designated for accessible parking during Open House. Street parking is also available according to City of Evanston signs.

    What if I want to schedule a personal meeting with a teacher or counselor during Open House?

    Teachers and counselors cannot provide personal conferences or scheduled personal appointments during Open House. Conferences will be held in October. You may contact your student's counselor via email regarding counseling supports at 911ÖÆÆ·³§.

    May I visit other classrooms or teachers that are not listed on my student’s schedule?

    Parents/guardians must follow their student's current class schedule and are not permitted to visit classes where their student is not currently enrolled. Drop-in visits to other classes or teacher classrooms during unscheduled blocks on your student's schedule are not permitted.

    How do I find my way around if my student does not attend Open House with me?

    If you need help finding a classroom, restroom, the nearest elevator, or another space in the building, ask a Student Ambassador (wearing a bright blue t-shirt) or staff member for directions. We’re here to help you!

    Are there any “rules” for Open House?

    School rules apply to all visitors to 911ÖÆÆ·³§, including the rules about cell phones and electronic devices as outlined in The Pilot handbook. Cell phones/electronic devices may be used in the hallways during passing periods. Student and parent cell phones/electronic devices should be turned off (or placed on silent) and out of sight before entering classrooms, offices, and instructional areas (libraries, study centers, etc.).

    Please do not bring food or beverages to the classrooms and instructional areas.

    Some items are not allowed on the 911ÖÆÆ·³§ campus to support the health and safety of all students, parents/guardians, and staff. Prohibited items include- but are not limited to- weapons and dangerous articles as noted on pages 86-87 of The Pilot handbook. You may not introduce, possess, use, buy, sell, carry or display any weapon or replica. Weapons are defined as any device or substance that is designed, used, or likely to be used to cause bodily harm, or property damage. 

    Parents and guardians will follow their student’s bell schedule between 7:00-8:55pm. All guests must leave by 9:00pm when Open House ends. You may exit through Door #1 (Dodge Avenue) or Door #2 (Wildkit Drive).

    Is Open House for potential 911ÖÆÆ·³§ students?

    Open House is for parents and guardians of current 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Grade 9-12 students, as well as parents of students enrolled in advanced middle school math courses. 

    Open House is not for potential or prospective families. We invite future Wildkits and their families to visit the 911ÖÆÆ·³§ website, where they can learn about important deadlines, Incoming Freshman Information Night in November, Campus Tours, and more.
