Hybrid Instruction Frequently Asked Questions
-
Will the hybrid plan change if the CDC guidance changes?
911ÖÆÆ·³§ closely monitors CDC guidance, and we need an opportunity to implement our plan based on 6’ distancing and other mitigation efforts to make sure that we have a full understanding of how effectively and safely we can implement our hybrid plan in our school. Learning about our own school will be vitally important for making future decisions.
-
Are all teachers coming back to 911ÖÆÆ·³§ in person for hybrid instruction?
Our plan for the hybrid model includes teachers present in their classrooms.
-
Will my student keep their current teachers or will that change due to potential on-site class configurations?
Students will be scheduled with their current classes.
-
Why are cohorts coming in on half-day schedules?
This decision was guided by health and safety. Masking is an essential component of mitigation. We know that students cannot mask while eating lunch. Therefore, we made the decision to offer grab-and-go lunches. To accomplish this, we had to divide each day in half.
-
Will the four on-site cohorts be organized by grade?
No, this would not allow for required social distancing guidelines within the classroom.
-
Is it possible to put siblings in the same schedule cohort??
Yes, if students have the same last name and/or we know they are siblings.
-
Can students opt in to on-site classes for some courses and opt out for others?
No, we are asking for a full commitment to the hybrid model.
-
If we opt in for on-site classes, can we choose to go back to full remote at any time?
Yes, students can go back to fully remote at any time.
-
Can I leave the building or come in later if I have an unscheduled period?
Yes.
-
Where can I go in the building during free or unscheduled periods?
Students will be assigned to specific locations during free periods.
-
Will the public bus schedule be arranged to be in line with the half-day schedule?
The CTA is committed to serving 911ÖÆÆ·³§ students for the hybrid schedule; however, each bus will be limited to 15 passengers per bus. Please consult the CTA schedule for travel times.
-
If I don¡¯t sign up for hybrid instruction, would this prevent me from participating in other activities and events?
No.
-
Will there be student parking? Is there a fee?
Yes, there will be student parking and there will be no parking fees assessed this school year.
-
How does Physical Education (P.E.) work? Will I need a uniform? Do I have to change? Will I have access to the locker room/my P.E. locker? Is swimming going to be a part of P.E.? Will P.E. include aerobic activity?
Students will not have access to P.E. locker rooms or lockers. They will participate in cognitive lessons and some low-impact activities.
-
How will the schedule work with morning sports?
Morning sports practice will end by 8:00am and athletics will coordinate for a space to wait. Showers will not be available.

Can students still access their lockers on days they are in person?
No, students will not have access to their lockers.
-
Why is there SAT testing for seniors?
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has waived the SAT graduation requirement for all grade 12 students. According to ISBE the diploma requirement update for Grade 12 Students: Public Act 101-643 makes all current 12th-grade students eligible for graduation regardless of whether that student took the SAT in 11th grade. Exemption paperwork for current grade 12 students who do not test is not required to be submitted to ISBE.
