911ÖÆÆ·³§

The 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Social Consciousness Series includes programs and events that invite critical reflection and examine institutional practices. Aligned with district goals, the events in the Social Consciousness Series isolate race to further the adaptive work of disrupting anti-Black racism and creating a sense of belonging for every 911ÖÆÆ·³§ student. 

Student Summits

Student summits are in-school field trips organized by educators and students to create spaces for relationship building and healthy identity development. Using an affinity group model, each student summit contributes to the establishment of an antiracist culture of belonging where students feel visible, heard, and valued. Summits facilitate racialized conversations about identity and center the needs of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) first and foremost. Student summit events include:

• Middle Eastern, North African, and Asian  (MENAA) Student Summit

Workshops and Conferences

Throughout each school year, 911ÖÆÆ·³§ identifies ways for stakeholders to reflect on experiences, talk about identity, and connect with each other. Examples include sessions with , exhibits by the , a workshop called “Becoming Antiracist: Interrogating and Decentering Whiteness,” and a presentation called “White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism.”
