The 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) is a premier organization that recognizes juniors and seniors who have made significant contributions to Evanston Township High School in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership and character.
Eligibility Requirements
Juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher after grades are calculated for the first semester are notified that they are eligible to apply. Acceptance is based on leadership, character, and involvement/service in qualifying school and community activities. Juniors accepted for NHS are expected to perform at least 15 hours of volunteer service during their senior year. Violation of school rules may result in denial of admission to NHS. Failure to maintain entry-level criteria may result in revocation of membership.Procedure for Joining
Eligible juniors and seniors must attend one (1) of the 10 informational meetings held in the spring to learn about being accepted into the National Honor Society. All required documents must be turned in to the National Honor Society sponsor by the date indicated at this meeting. All deadlines will be strictly enforced. Student applications are reviewed and those students accepted to the National Honor Society are then extended an invitation to a spring induction ceremony.Senior NHS Members Renewing
Members of the 911ÖÆÆ·³§ Lighthouse Chapter of National Honor Society must complete 15 hours of service during senior year in order to qualify to graduate with National Honor Society recognition. Members were informed of this requirement upon induction to NHS during junior year. For verification of membership, see ID List below. See the Forms section of this page for the form.
